The Dexeus Mujer Foundation Prize is awarded each year to an institution or individual who has made a significant contribution to the health sciences, with particular emphasis on women.
This year, the award was presented by the Director of the Dexeus Mujer Foundation, Dr. Perre Barr, to Madame Ly Dumas for her work with the Jean-Félicien Gacha Foundation. It will enable the Jean-Félicien Gacha Foundation to finance projects promoting access to healthcare for women, children and community members in the village of Bangoulap.
Alongside the cultural, social and educational activities developed by the Foundation’s teams, cooperation projects with hospitals, universities and local and international institutions are carried out to raise awareness, improve and support the well-being of rural communities in West Cameroon.
Last March, the Foundation joined forces with the Spanish Dexeus Mujer Foundation to organize an intervention by gynecologists in the Bangangté region of West Cameroon. A team of gynecologists, led by Dr. Pere Barri, spent 10 days in Cameroon providing emergency care and surgery. The teams carried out 72 surgical procedures, spread over ten days, and ensured post-operative follow-up thanks to efficient collaboration between the teams.
On this occasion, we would like to reiterate our gratitude and thanks to Dr. Pere Barri and the Dexeus Mujer Foundation teams for their dedication, and to Elisa Beltrame for her warm contribution.
